Kiwis spark schoolies brawl during haka on Gold Coast

Their was a big fight at the Gold Coast where there was a haka going on. Two Australians made fun of the the Maoridoing the haka. There were also eleven people taken into custody because of the fight. Eight of those were for possession of drugs, police told the Gold Coast Bulletin. 

Earthquake: Two dead in 7.5-magnitude quake

There was this big earthquake down in Wellington early this morning and  two people have died from it. It was a massive 7.6-magnitude earthquake. Our Prime Minister John Key says...
 "On the best information we have there's been two fatalities. At this point we're unable to give you precise information on what caused those fatalities.  We think it's only likely to be two - there are isolated parts of the country that we don't have perfect eyes on so we can't be 100 per cent sure."

The best part of the movie was when she was a baby and she went towards the sea and it moved away, then came back and they became friends. What made me feel like I was going to cry was when the song of the movie came on while she was playing in the water. I didn’t really think that I would end up crying when this part of the movie came on. I think that this was a good experience for me.

New Zealand collectively celebrated Guy Fawkes last night with Police and the Fire Service dealing with dozens of calls across the country. Three people were injured by fireworks – two of them seriously. Firefighters responded to more than twice the number of fireworks call-outs than last year in what they say was a very disappointing night. Guy Fawkes occurs on the 5th November each year. Fireworks are only allowed to be purchased by those over  18 and stores can only sell them for four days.

A radio segment by More FM's Lana and Jose dubbed the 'Meow-Borne Cup' had four cats lined up in a race that attracted plenty of attention. The entrants - Ellie, Muffle Belinda Sealer, Leo DE-Cat-Prion, and Oscar Puss-victorious - took to the starting blocks ahead of the race, but the sprint itself proved a little more challenging.Leo DE-Cat-Prion - labelled "second favorite" by More FM ahead of the contest - was enticed by a Burger King cheeseburger held by its owner at the finish line to claim the win. The first-placed puss took away packs of cat treats and a bottle of sauvignon blanc for its efforts, alongside a coveted gold cup and the inaugural title of Meow-Borne cup champion.

Isn’t this the cutest hedgehog ever? Going by the name of Huff  but his full name is Sir Hodge Huffington and the three-year-old African Pygmy is making headlines for his cute fangs. Huff’s owner, Carolyn Parker, said he was a rescue hedgehog. The Utah student started taking pictures of Huff, and started sharing them on Instagram. Creating the Instagram account in February, Huff already has over 15, 000 followers. As for his sharp teeth, Parker says “all hedgehogs have little sharp teeth like Huff”. It seems his may be a little more pronounced, but for the most part I just try to get pictures that show off that cute feature.”

Trip To The Botanic Gardens

Today we went to the Botanic Gardens for a trip and it was hot because of the sun. It was fun when we went into the forest to see more of the flowers that were growing in there. There were lots of flowers that I have not seen before. I liked the rose garden the most because it had lots of rose. I also like the pink trees they make all the photos look good. We had to walk around the Botanic Garden it was hot but I kept on going. We had to go up hills and down hills but I liked taking photos. It was my best job of all job there is. I liked the yellow rose. I hope that we can go back there some other day.    

Native Forest

When we go to the Botanic Gardens I will like to go to the Native Forest. Because it has all of the native birds and they even sing when theirs people around them. That is why I want to go and vest the Native Forest. I think that I will have the best time their. Seeing the native birds will be very cool and if we see other animals in the forest. It looks fun and it will be very good for a walk. There will be lots of water their.    

Trip To Tamaki Primary

Last Wednesday we went to Tamaki Primary school because our school had to have the roof clean and we went by bus to the Tamaki Primary school and as we were coming down the bus the Tamaki Primary school welcomed us with a Haka then we went to our class our one was in a art class and we did a lot of art when we were there. We also did some a little of cross country to have a warm up because we did not have that meany fitness wile we where there. But at the end of everyday we end up going back to school in the bus. We had lots of fun when we were there but we still liked it in Ruapotaka School. Thank you Tamaki Primary for letting us ues half of your school so that we can still do work and keep on learning new thing.

Lost Orca Calf In Harbour

There was a Killer whale's calf that has been separated from his family in the Tauranga Harbour. He has been swimming all alone around the habour for around two weeks. The Department of Conservation (DOC) has said the calf must be reunited with a pod for it to survive in the wild. It’s a life or death situation for the young whale.

A group has been formed to help the Orca, with representatives from DOC, local iwi and the Orca Research Trust.They have been monitoring the whale’s movements since 19 July and while it was swimming freely, they were becoming increasingly concerned about its well being.

The Olympic Free Style Event.

The Olympic Free Style Event.
Today is the 5th of August and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games will  start  and I will compete in the Freestyle Swimming competitions. The stadium will be in Rio and the name of the stadium that I will be competing in is called the multi-purpose stadium and I will do my best to go against  some of the best Freestyle swimmers in the world. That will be hard to do but I will try my best to be a good competitor in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. And as we do the thing that we are best at we have a happy life. So on weeks went past and we had a very good win in the summer Olympic games so when we got older we had lots of good things like gold medals and bronze medals and even the sliver medals. Image Link

My Olympic Mascot

Today we drew our own mascot on sumo paint for art and for the Olympics games that is coming up soon this year.This is my sumo paint drawing. The name of  my mascot is called the winter warrior.

All Blacks vs Wales.

The All Blacks had begun their victory for 2016 season over the Wales. But the game on Sunday night was very good because we wane the rugby game. The points were 39 to 21. Wales had the better of the first half and leading by 18-15, despite both sides scoring two tries. Wales were getting ready to attack at the breakdown and caused the All Blacks problems through spirited forward play.First half try scorers for the All Blacks were Julian Savea and Waisake Naholo and Savea had a try. We win and the whole of New Zealand is very happy and they are jumping everywhere.

Matariki Maori New Year.

Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars known as Pleiades. When it comes up in the north or eastern skies them the Māori people will know because when it appeared just before dawn in the late May or early June, it signalled the start of the Māori New Year. But For some tribes, the rising of Puanga (Rigel in Orion) signals the start of the New Year.  Matariki begins on the 6 of  June in 2016.
